Current Programs

We have been able to supply food and clothing to the elderly, sick/shut in and needy families.  Currently we provide weekly bread/pastry donations to three senior living communities and two ministries in the Prince Georges County and Washington, DC area.  We also provide food donations to local families in the community.

  • HIS Food Ministry Heaven’s Helpers Ministry has teamed with HIS Food Ministry to be one of its Distribution Centers.  We will be providing reasonably priced meal packages to the community!  Click here for the this months menu.  Click here for the 2013 calendar to see the payment deadlines and pick up dates.
  • Adopt A Senior
    • In 2009 a Houston, TX apartment complex found 5 seniors deceased in their apartments will little food in the refrigerator or cabinets.  Daily, seniors across the US have to decide whether to get their medicine or buy food with their fixed income; most of the time they buy the medicine & have very little food.  Our “Adopt a Senior” campaign will provide seniors with up to $150 worth of food for a month.  So far we have almost 75 seniors signed up for the program.  For a pledge of $75 a month, the cost of a cup of latte a day, you can save a seniors life.  Would you be willing to adopt a senior today? Click here for more information.

  • Andrew & Gladys Young Food Pantry

    • Named after a brilliant scientist and his activist wife, the Andrew & Gladys Young Food Pantry will open in February 2013.  We are so excited about our next big step in helping the community.  The hours of operations will be Monday & Wednesday from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm every other week.  In emergency cases where food is need on a day that the pantry is closed contact Pastor Yvonne McKnight at (301) 350-1070.

Utility Assistance

In some cases we have been able to help several families with minor utility payments.  This is done on a case by case basis and the amount of the funds available vary between $0 to $100.

Temporary Housing

We have been able to help several families find temporary and permanent housing.  We are hoping to have our own housing units so we can provide 6 months to 1 year housing to need families.
